Helpful Energy Saving Tips for the Go Green Family

Another addition to the money pit, as the wife calls it, but we just completed adding new windows and siding to the house and taking one more step in the fight to go green. What a difference! Not only does it look great but the savings are already starting to show. The siding has dampened the noise from the outside which was one small thing I noticed right away. By going with the 3/4 inch insulation not only did we add some R factor to our insulation but added greatly to the noise reduction. The drafts are gone, the old aluminum windows were not the most energy efficient. Its a great feeling to stand at my window now and not have to scrape the ice off the inside to see out and knowing that I’m not only saving green in my pocket but saving some green in our environment. I’ve seen only two utility bills since the majority was installed and I’ve seen just a small savings so far but I’m sure it will get better. Going green is what we’re all about and as time goes, more green things will happen around our house.
